چکیده

Introduction Colorectal cancer cells can induce apoptosis in cells of various tissues [1]. Apoptosis can be induced by a number of factors such as Fas inducing apoptosis through the Fas/ FasL pathway; other factors involve the TRAIL pathway and TNF. It is known that metastasizing colon cancer cells express more FasL then primary carcinoma cells [2]. We investigated whether a rat colon carcinoma cell line CC531s could induce apoptosis in liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs). LSECs and CC531s were co-cultured for 18 hrs and cells were visualized by SEM and TEM. Apoptosis was visualized by markers such as Hoechst and Propidium iodide. Furthermore, cells were recorded by time lapse video microscopy with and without an antagonistic antibody for FasL.

Current views concerning the influences of murine hepatic endothelial adhesive and cytotoxic properties on interactions between metastatic tumor cells and the liver

Substantial recent experimental evidence has demonstrated the existence of reciprocal interactions between the microvascular bed of a specific organ and intravascular metastatic tumor cells through expression of adhesion molecules and nitric oxide release, resulting in a significant impact upon metastatic outcomes. This review summarizes the current findings of adhesive and cytotoxic endothelia...

Cytotoxic Effect of Iranian Vipera Lebetina snake Venom on HUVEC Cells

Objective: Envenomation by heamotoxic snakes constituted a critical health occurrence in the world. Bleeding is the most sever consequence following snake bite with viperid and crothalid snakes. It is believed that the degradation of vascular membrane caused hemorrhage; in contrast, some suggested that direct cytotoxicity has role in endothelial cell disturbances. This study was to evaluate the...

The response of fenestrations , actin and caveolin - 1 to vascular endothelial growth factor in SK Hep 1 cells ( a liver endothelial cell line )

To study the regulation of fenestrations by vascular endothelial growth factor in liver sinusoidal endothelial cells, SK Hep1 cells were transfected with GFP-actin and GFPcaveolin-1. SK Hep1 cells had pores some of which appeared to be fenestrations (diameter 55 ± 28 nm, porosity 2.0 ± 1.4%), rudimentary sieve plates, bristle-coated micropinocytotic vesicles and expressed caveolin-1, von Willeb...

Liver sinusoidal endothelial cells induce tolerance of autoreactive CD4+ recent thymic emigrants

The liver is a unique lymphoid organ whose microenvironment is biased towards tolerance induction. We previously found that a proportion of CD4(+) autoreactive recent thymic emigrants (RTEs) retained in the liver after thymic egress and acquired IL-10 producing capability. To investigate the tolerance of these liver persisting CD4(+) RTEs in more detail and to study the liver stromal cell types...
